It’s the pixel density per square inch, and knowing that for your smartphone and TV display is important but lets first see the formula to calculate PPI
[{(𝐻𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑧𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 ✖ 2 ) ✖ ( 𝑉𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 ✖ 2 )}1/2}] ➗ 𝐷𝑖𝑎𝑔𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑠𝑖𝑧𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦
👉Eg: If the resolution is HD and the screen size is 6 inch
{(1280 X 2) X ( 720 X 2 )} raised to 1/2 = 1468.6 pixels
1468.6/6 = 244 PPI ❗
👉It’s difficult for the human eye to decipher beyond FHD ( 1980 X 1080 ) so if you have a 4K screen it would require more processing power and in the smartphone will drain the battery and in PC’s will require more power .
